Since the 1st of January 2005, postal voting is widespread in Valais. Every voter can now vote in this manner. Every voter receives the following material in advance of poll
The envelope received can be used as a forwarding envelope.
Make sure the envelope is correctly openend as it will be used to forward your vote. If there is a problem, empty envelopes are available from the municipal administration building.
Every voter can now choose the manner in which they wish to vote:
By post : (stamped envelope obligatory)
Sending the envelope by post (deadline is Tuesday before the vote for second-class post, or the Thursday before the vote for first-class post)
Note: an unstamped envelope is not valid (void vote)
Note: a package containing several envelopes is not valid (void vote)
Drop-off at the municipal adminstration (free)
Leave the voting envelope at the reception of the municipal administration (08:00 - 12:00 and 13:30 - 17:00)
The deadline is the Friday before the vote (08:00 - 12:00 and 13:30 - 17:00)
Note: envelopes left elsewhere than the ballot box will not be valid (void vote)
By coming to the voting booth in person
To exercise you civic duty, it is necessary to have the forwarding sheet which identifies every voter. Without this you cannot vote.
Note: you can not show your voting documents to a third person in the voting office. Voting is exclusivel personal.
In all cases, the forwarding sheet must be signed by the voter. Otherwise the vote is void.
If a voter does not receive their voting documents (problems with their address etc) they must contact the residents' registration office up until the Friday before the vote, before 17:00.
Because the introduction of the postal vote has led to a sharp drop in the number of people attending polling booths in the villages, citizens of Bagnes can vote at the central booth in Le Châble, in the municipal building.
The opening hours of the Le Châble polling booth are as follows:
Saturday, from 19:00 to 20:00
Sunday, from 10:00 to 12:00
